My name is Stephanie, but you can call me Steph; in fact, I’d like that.
I have two little boys that you’d swear were on meth half the time, but I assure you they aren’t. We save that stuff for ourselves.
I’m married to Damon. We moved one year ago to the fringe of Silicon Valley to work someplace different after enjoying for several years in Austin. We like living here, and I think you’ll get a sense of that when I write, but we dearly miss Austin.
Still, we are busy every day carving out a life here in a gentrified cul de sac off the Silicon Valley rat race. We live on an acre of old orchard in Saratoga, in an old unfenced farmhouse where we can swing and garden and play make lots of noise. When we’re not outside, we’re inside painting, making music, building lego spaceships and tearing the house apart. All at the same time. But I’m the one who paints every day.
I LOVE hearing from you. You are one reason this journal is public! But it’s also because I want to remember these small details and accomplishments that are making this the time of my life.

Hello there,
I discovered your site via your comment on my topography yesterday - and love it! So fresh and alive. Matches the sunshine outside my window
Best Greetings from Germany,
Johanna
Love your site! I came across it checking who else was using the same wordpress theme as me and how they’ve modified it and your’s looks beautiful! And the concept for your blog is fantastic too! I’ve always wondered why more people don’t have a blog about their children - my partner has a wee boy and the gorgeous things he gets up to are amazing I could giggle about them all day! Your photos are so beautiful as well! It’s so inspiring for someone like me!
Anyway just wanted to let you know
Sarah (NZ)
i’ve noticed we’re travelling in a few of the same circles out her in cyberspace…thought i’d pop over and read your “about”…love your photo! looking forward to going back and reading some of your current posts,
k
I just had to pop in and tell you what a delight your blog is! I love your pics, your thoughts, the freedom you share with your children and your gorgeous pictures!
beautiful! Julie
stumbled upon your blog by way of leslie’s list of things to do in the fall via hula seventy’s site. very serendipitous. i have two stepsons and it’s always fun to find someone with two boys as well as they are truly unique little beings. love your site.
Hi,
I love your blog! It sounds like you have a pretty great life.
Anyway, I’m working on a Photoshop project for a class and I’d love to use one of your pictures — the one in the bathtub with the ball and Seti. Not really knowing what the picture was attached to I tried to copy it and use it. But it wasn’t working. Would you be interested in letting me use it? I’m not really going to publish anything — just turn it in for a grade.
We were supposed to do something fantastic and the only idea I could come up with was childhood dreams. My idea was to have a young child sort of flying over the city and then I liked the idea of a child in a bathtub (a little bit of safety?). Anyway, when I found your picture I knew it was just the right one. I want to cut out the dog and put him in the bathtub and then cut out the bathtub and the baby and put it into a city sky at night with the dog looking out on one side and the baby looking on the other side. I think I’d like to call it “Dreamtime Adventures.”
What do you think?

Hi, Steph! Write to me (pdq@pdq.net) I can’t seem to leave a comment with the absolutely stunning strawberry piece you posted. Let me know if it’s for sale! We’re heading to the Netherlands in 2008 for a couple of years, and I’ll need your advice on setting up some sort of blog (though I am a bit humbled by your effort and others out there!).
xo, ME
