The plein air season is again upon us, in Texas, but even in extreme temperatures it’s possible to quickly sketch a scene as part of your art practice, completing the picture in the studio, as you either cool off or warm up, afterwards. Such was the case in these captures around Waxahachie, Texas, where I live. For the snowy sketch, I was only able to sketch the composition and block in the major components before heading back indoors to thaw and draw. Just make sure to take a photograph of your composition before leaving, as your pictorial reference.
